What are you currently working on?
I’m currently studying structural engineering at the University of California, San Diego while competing with the UCSD Speech & Debate team. I also contribute to interdisciplinary projects such as the Human Powered Submarine team and Triton Trading Group.
What inspires your work?
Naval and aerospace engineering are the fields that interest me most, particularly where complex systems intersect with logistics, infrastructure, and strategy. I’m especially drawn to how ideas across disciplines connect to shape real-world capability.
What kind of projects do you work on?
My work spans engineering, mentorship, and international education. I’ve contributed to projects related to energy systems with the U.S. Department of Defense, taught English in Vietnam, and mentored NJROTC cadets, along with other interdisciplinary initiatives.
Why engineering, debate, and finance?
While they appear distinct, I see that these fields heavily reinforce one another. Engineering develops the technical systems, finance enables those systems to operate and scale, and rhetoric ensures ideas can be communicated and defended effectively.
What are your long-term interests?
I’m interested in contributing to large-scale technological and institutional development—building systems that expand capability, exploration, and long-term progress. Long-term thinking and strategic planning guide much of the work I pursue.
Why is there a gap in your education?
Unexpected challenges required stepping away from school for a period of time. That time was used to regain stability, gain new perspectives through travel and work abroad, and return with stronger focus and discipline.
